Blushing Bark was begun, in some ways, by accident.

While I was planning my own wedding and gasping over the expense of real flowers, a friend suggested I use wood ones instead. “Wood flowers?” I asked, incredulous, imagining rough, bulky shapes clumsily glued in the shape of a flower.

After some Googling, I realized wood flowers were actually very pretty, so I placed some sample orders. I was obsessed the moment I opened the box. Each flower was a work of art, detailed and delicate, with a feel that was surprisingly realistic. AND they could be dyed any color under the sun. I was thrilled—I wanted some black flowers for our slightly spooky October wedding.

After the wedding, I had lots of flowers left over, so I made them into holiday arrangements for family and friends.

A few more orders and a couple craft shows later, here I am, expanding to weddings and taking custom orders.
